over the rainbow - children's party inspiration

joy and me are off over the rainbow – dreaming of technicolour cakes and sunshine after the rain! The colours of the rainbow have long been magical for children and adults alike, there is a certain mystical quality to that beautiful arch in the sky when the sun breaks through the rain clouds.

Rainbows evoke a sense of hope, and are often used in storytelling as a way of healing. We love to have some special meaning behind our theme ideas and share this magic with the children celebrating. On this occasion we are party planning with a creative, imaginative, art loving 9 year old who will be entering the big world of double figures on her 10th birthday in early June.

Inspired by these tempting rainbow treats…

…and some delightful party pictures by Amy Atlas and The Party Dress, two of our favourite places for event inspiration.

We are planning a simple yet striking candy bar using mismatched glass jars, vases and bottles we are collecting from the home and local op shops. joy and me are keen on environmentally friendly, ethical, cost effective celebrations – we believe that children’s parties need not cost the earth in any sense. Why not introduce our precious next generation to the importance of these topics through their favourite past time – parties!!

We found these lovely invites and goody bag tags on Katy Jane Designs, they are personalised and affordable.

The rainbow cupcake cases are from The Cupcake Social on Etsy. Etsy is such a wonderful place to shop for bespoke, handmade partyware, the search functionality is brilliant and there is a big wide world of delicious goodies available.
